For the second single from Morgan Geist’s acclaimed new album Double Night Time, Paul Woolford was kind enough to provide us with two wonderful remixes of “The Shore.” The digital-only release features vocals from Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys and is now available in all major digital music outlets such as iTunes and Beatport.
Paul Woolford was so captivated by “The Shore” that he reached out and volunteered to remix it for us. His ten-plus-minute “Bridge End Remix” turns the song into a percussive, synthetic anthem, creatively employing Greenspan’s vocals (and on the dub, the space between the vocals). Much like Carl Craig’s remix of Junior Boys’ “Like A Child,” it’s paradoxical that so energetic and “peak-time” a remix could be borne of such an introspective original, but it works.
The combination of Geist’s masterful production and songwriting with Greenspan’s delicate vocals made moved FACT Magazine to name “The Shore” #16 in their “Top 100 Tracks” of 2008, and DJ luminaries including Ewan Pearson, Joakim, DJ Hell, Will Saul, Tiefschwarz, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, and Ame are already giving us incredible feedback from their club play. Enjoy!

Check out the show here. Morgan starts around 42 minutes in, kicking it off in fine style by correcting the host on his pronunciation of “Environ.”

Had to share this. Looks like music scored .8 higher than that Morgan Geist album we put out.

The Metro Area Fabric 43 mix CD is out now. Not an Environ release, but we are pretty close with those Metro Area boys and figured we’d mention it as a favor.

If you are interested (and we really hope you are!) please support the artists on Environ and purchase the album, even if you downloaded it from some digital back alley already. Morgan Geist’s new Detroit EP is out now on iTunes, Beatport and all other digital stores. The EP consists of the original version of “Detroit” from Geist’s upcoming artist album Double Night Time, as well as two incredible remixes from Grammy Award-nominated remixer Carl Craig.
12″ vinyl will arrive near the end of the month…we think (our pressing plant ran out of vinyl to manufacture records…and no, we’re not kidding!)
Anyway, check it out. We’re very proud of this release!
